My Mental Health

Supporting people with their mental health and wellbeing is something I am passionate about because I have struggled with my mental health. I have been there and I’m still here, battling to keep it under control.

I have been diagnosed with anxiety and panic attacks in the past. I still struggle with anxiety, which is often linked to self-doubt. I over-think and catastrophise often. Even writing this, has me worrying I am sharing to much, but I would rather put myself out there and push myself to follow my dreams.

My dream and core values for Sage and Bellflower is to support people with their mental health, to showcase how beautiful nature is and combine the two through my aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy and Mental Health

When I became an aromatherapist I wanted to specialise in mental health. I’m super proud to say, that’s exactly what I have done, after recently passing an additional course in aromatherapy for mental health and wellbeing, with a distinction.

Aromatherapy can help to support mental health and wellbeing thanks to the essential oils ability to relax, balance the nervous system and due to each oils specific properties.

Let’s look at a few mental health disorders and some of the oils which can offer support.

Anxiety: Melissa, French basil, bergamot, frankincense, juniper, lavender, neroli, sandalwood..

Depression: Bergamot, grapefruit, jasmine, lavender, clary sage, vetiver, ylang ylang…

Stress: Cedarwood, chamomile, elemi, frankincense, geranium, lavender, scotch pine, rosemary..

A massage is a great way to enjoy aromatherapy and a bit of self care, but there are other methods, such as: Inhalers, diffusers, rollerballs and gorgeous baths.

How can I support you?

Having worked in public services for many years I am fully aware of how stressful work life can be. One of my aims is to support workplaces and mental health charities by speaking to colleagues and groups about my mental health journey and how aromatherapy can support mental health and wellbeing.
