The Wild Plant Club: Hazel Saturday 5th September 2026 | 9:30am – 10:30am Have you ever walked past a tree hundreds of times without really noticing it? That's exactly why I've created The Wild Plant Club. On the first Saturday of every month, we'll meet one beautiful wild plant that's growing all around us. Together we'll discover its stories, its folklore, its place in nature and the little ways it can help us slow down and connect with the season we're in. Our very first Wild Plant Club is all about Hazel. Hazel is one of my favourite native trees. It's been linked with wisdom, creativity and magic for centuries, and as we move from summer into autumn it feels like the perfect plant to begin our journey together. I'll also be sharing the story of the time I was completely outwitted by a squirrel while trying to forage hazelnuts... so if you'd like to hear how that ended, you'll have to come along! During our hour together we'll chat about: 🌿 How to recognise Hazel and where you're most likely to find it. 📖 The myths, folklore and history surrounding this wonderful tree. 🐝 Why Hazel is so important for wildlife. 🌸 Hazelnut carrier oil and how it's used in aromatherapy. 🍂 Simple ways Hazel can inspire us to embrace the changing season. This isn't a botany lesson and you don't need to know anything about plants before you come along. It's simply an hour to slow down, learn something new and enjoy spending time with like-minded people who love nature.
