The Wild Plant Club: Ivy Saturday 3rd October 2026 | 9:30am – 10:30am Have you ever walked past ivy hundreds of times without really stopping to notice it? That's exactly why I've created The Wild Plant Club. On the first Saturday of every month, we'll meet one beautiful wild plant that's growing all around us. This month we're turning our attention to Ivy. Often overlooked, sometimes misunderstood and occasionally treated as a nuisance, ivy is actually a fascinating and incredibly useful native plant. From its late-season flowers and the wildlife that depends on them, to its evergreen leaves and long history of folklore, ivy has plenty of stories to tell. And there's a little bit of magic in there too... 🍃✨ During our hour together we'll chat about: How to recognise Ivy and where you're most likely to find it. The myths, folklore and history surrounding this fascinating plant. Why Ivy stays green throughout winter and what makes it such an unusual plant. Ivy and folk divination, including an old New Year's tradition for looking ahead to the year to come. Simple ways Ivy can inspire us to notice and appreciate the changing season. This isn't a botany lesson and you don't need to know anything about plants before you come along. It's simply an hour to slow down, learn something new and enjoy spending time with like-minded people who love nature.
