Monthly Competitions at Bellflower & Bloom CIC

Back in December 2025, I applied for funding from the National Lottery to support Bellflower & Bloom CIC’s “Nature in Action” challenges. I’m thrilled to share that our bid was successful, and we’ve now received the funding!

While I no longer send out monthly challenges, I do share a seasonal newsletter with ideas for ways we can all help nature each season via a handy checklist. And now, thanks to the funding, each month I’ll pick an item from that checklist and hold a competition, giveaway, or freebie just for our Bellflower & Bloom CIC members.

To keep things fair and fun, I’ll be trying out different ways to enter each month, so everyone has a chance to take part—even if you don’t have social media. I am also conscious that I don’t just want to be the person to pick which members win, so I will also include other Bellflower members to help.

All competitions will always be shared in the Bellflower Forum, which is the heart of our community. 💜

Why We Have This Funding

Bellflower & Bloom CIC is all about making friends, spending time outside, and caring for Mother Earth. The following quote resonated with me when I started the group and I also included it when I was applying for the funding:

“Real change only happens when we fall in love with our planet.”

This is exactly what we’re trying to do. When we spend time outside and do small things to help nature, we fall in love with it—with the birds, the plants, the bugs, and all of it. And in return, spending time with Mother Earth helps our mental health too.

What the Competitions Are About

Each monthly competition will be different, but they all share the same purpose:

• Helping Mother Earth 

• Spending time outside 

• Supporting our mental health 

  
  

I’ll always invite members to tag @bellflowerandbloom CIC—either in the way to enter or once you’ve completed the activity. This is part of the funding aim: raising awareness so more people can fall in love with our planet.

As we approach the end of our funding, I may also ask members for a little feedback, to share with the National Lottery and help us apply for more funding in the future.

Seasonal Competitions

On top of the monthly competitions, each season I’ll hold a special competition or giveaway linked to the Care for Mother Earth pillar of Bellflower & Bloom CIC. This is our way of supporting a specific animal, plant, or habitat each season, and getting even more people involved in caring for our planet.

So, whether it’s a bug hotel, a planting challenge, or something else entirely, these competitions are all about community, nature, and joy. Keep an eye on the Bellflower Forum —you won’t want to miss out!
